May for Sherrill Milnes begins with an eventful weekend: On May 2, the legendary baritone receives an Honorary Doctorate from the University of South Florida as part of the school’s 2015 commencement ceremonies.
The following day, the Savannah VOICE Festival, part of the Sherrill Milnes VOICE Programs, hosts a Prelude to the Festival Brunch in Savannah at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa.
Sherrill’s weekend continues on Monday May 4 when he joins the Harry T. Wilks Artistic Director of Cincinnati Opera Evans Mirageas for an evening of conversation in celebration of the American baritone’s 80th birthday. Having made his company debut as Count di Luna in Il Trovatore in 1964, Sherrill closed out his Cincinnati Opera career in 1980 in the same role.
