The Sherrill Milnes VOICE Programs celebrates opera in the Tampa Bay Area of Florida, Richmond Hill and Savannah, Georgia and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina with free events, masterclasses, community outreaches and a new opera commission, Michael Ching’s Alice Ryley: A Savannah Ghost Story with a World Premier in Savannah on Friday, October 30th, 2015. The Charles H. Morris Center is the backdrop for two performances the night before Halloween at 4pm and 6pm.
A special talkback with the composer and cast will be offered after each performance of the one-act drama. The cast is headed by the Festival’s artistic director Sherrill Milnes as the Tour Guide, who takes you into the 1700’s colonial Savannah to tell the true story of the Irish indentured servant, Alice Ryley, who was the first person hanged at Wright Square.
